IT VOIDS is my ongoing art project, born out of the paradox that sometimes you have to lose yourself in order to find a more authentic creative path. My process is built on cycles of instinct, disruption, and renewal. I lean into getting lost—deliberately “fucking it up”—as a way to push past constraints and uncover something truer beneath the surface.
At the heart of the project is a rhythm I call Dream, Make, and the Void. The Dream is that first surge of energy—intuitive, raw, and overflowing with ideas. The Make is where those impulses clash with form and judgement, often leading me to push too far, to overwork, or to create something that feels unsettling in its neatness. Then comes the Void, a necessary collapse where plans fall away and space opens for something more honest to rise again. This cycle reflects my lived experience with Borderline Personality Disorder, where mood shifts and fragile identity mean I am constantly unraveling and rebuilding. For me, that unraveling isn’t failure—it’s a reset, a chance to let instinct back in.
Maps have become my way into this process. I begin with old Ordnance Survey sheets or discarded tourist guides—objects designed to help people navigate external spaces. By layering, distorting, and marking over them, I create personal cartographies that chart inner states instead of landscapes. They become records of emotion, memory, and instability made visible.
With IT VOIDS, I want to invite others into these altered maps and the unpredictable terrains they suggest. Getting lost—on paper, in art, or in oneself—can sometimes be the only way to truly find direction.
