From April 2023 to April 2024, I am thrilled to embark on an exciting journey, dedicating myself to a multitude of inspiring projects in the LEAKE STREET TUNNEL underneath Waterloo Station. During this period, I will have the incredible opportunity to collaborate and connect with a diverse community, including locals, tourists, professionals working in the area, and fellow artists.
The forthcoming months promise to be filled with creativity, as we explore innovative ideas and work together to bring our visions to life. The essence of this residency revolves around the power of collaboration, fostering meaningful connections that will undoubtedly lead to remarkable outcomes.
While there are exciting surprises on the horizon, we will be sure to keep everyone informed about our progress along the way. For now, let us all embrace the central themes of creativity, collaboration, and connection, knowing that they will lay the foundation for an enriching and fulfilling experience for everyone involved.
52 mural portraits of people connected to the Waterloo area (one for each week of the residency). each of those who take part will get a photo of the finished portrait created somewhere on the wall of Leake Street. Portraits start in August. The one in the picture was a test run of my father Michael Craig.
During the art residency I will be embarking on creating 4 large scale murals. The first one called THE INVISIBLE ONES has been completed which is on the ceiling of the link tunnel near to Leake Street and has great company in the form of Bloek Le Rat’s tank piece in the same area.
Presently showing at Leake Street Galleries (online virtual gallery) is MAX THE VIRUS from 25/07/23 to 31/10/23. We are planning on creating a big group show for NOV/DEC 2023 involving Leake Street artists coinciding with organised paint jams in tunnel in OCT 2023
